Before logging into minecraft, provide your own definition of what a net is.
- How does it help us identify the shape and its key features?
- What is its purpose, and why do we need to be able to see it?
- What types of shapes do they consist?
Questions will be discussed during the lesson before logging into Minecraft.
[Approx: 5 Min]
Once logged in to Minecraft head straight down to the red areas as there is no red room that you need to get to.
Creeper has decided that he no longer wants to destroy things by blowing up. He finally understands that there are better ways to de construct things. With your help, Creeper wishes that you would help him de construct the (6) buildings
Creeper: "I have already completed the first step of the first two buildings, can you help with the rest?"
You and your specialised Minecraft team will have to look at the sheet provided, to identify and match the nets with their corresponding three dimensional shapes.
You will then have to recreate the nets in Minecraft using the same dimensions and materials found on each face.
Note: Within each building there will be a chest with a certain equipment to help you with your next task.
[Approx: 20 Min]
Steve The Zombie and Spot The Cow have decided to go ahead and create their own three dimensional designs. They overheard that there was an ultimate prize at the end and so they have challenged you, the students of this boot camp, to claim that prize. Can you and your team work harder than them to create your own designs?
In this task, you and your team will be provided with equipments to harvest and collect your own materials. Using these collected materials you are to create 5 different three dimensional shapes in order of their features. You are able to either recreate and redesign Steve and Spots shapes or create your own. Steve and Spot worked well together, can you?
Using the signs provided, you will also label the shape and identify its number of faces, vertices, and edges. (e.g 6 faces, 8 vertices and 12 edges).
You will have to delegate roles and resources for each member to make sure that you complete the task on time.
[Approx: 20 Min]
Note: Points will be given as teachers judge the different models that each group has created. Teachers will also look for other things to give points to such as, behaviour, organisation, creativity and teamwork skills.
Once you have completed all tasks for this session, you are to go back and finish tasks from your previous lessons as you will need all the help and skills for the next lesson.
